They Just Blocked the Save America Act

Hey Patriots,

I am still fuming about what just happened in the Senate. The SAVE America Act, the bill that simply says you have to prove you are an American citizen before you register to vote in a federal election, got blocked by Senate Democrats a few weeks ago. Let that sink in. A bill asking people to prove they are who they say they are when it comes to deciding who runs this country could not even get sixty votes. If that does not tell you everything you need to know about where the other side really stands on election integrity, I do not know what will.

Here is what the bill actually asks for, in plain English. Show a passport, a birth certificate, or some other real proof of citizenship when you register to vote. Show a photo ID when you actually vote. That is the whole thing. Most of us already do something similar to board a plane, open a bank account, or pick up a prescription from the pharmacy. Yet somehow asking for that same basic proof before you help decide who becomes President of the United States gets treated like some kind of civil rights violation. President Trump made it clear this should have been the top priority in Congress before anything else moved, and he was right to draw that line, because nothing protects this country more than making sure only American citizens decide American elections.

The excuses for blocking it do not hold up once you actually look at them. They will tell you it is too hard, too expensive, too much of a burden on voters. What they will not tell you is how hard they have fought against every single attempt to confirm that the people casting ballots in our elections are actually allowed to. You do not fight this hard against a simple ID requirement unless the current mess is working out pretty well for you. That alone should make every one of us ask why.

This fight is not over just because one vote failed. Bills like this come back, and they come back stronger when enough of us refuse to shut up about it. Call your senators and tell them you expect a yes vote next time this comes up. Send this to someone who still thinks this is a settled issue, because it is not, not by a long shot. We saved America once already. We can do it again, but only if we keep showing up and keep making noise until it actually gets done.
